Animal behaviuour: spiders that simulate to be other spider's prey, to... eat them.
Portias look like leaf detritus caught in a web, and this is often enough to fool web-building spiders, which have poor eyesight.

What is villamaninita?
Search the internet for the following information about this geological material and write the responses in a WORD file:
1.- If villamaninita is a rock: what minerals is it made of?
If villamaninita is a mineral: what is it chemical formula?
2.- Why was it named this way? Where was it found and described for the first time?
3.- Search for a picture of it and download it.
4.- Search for a map of the place where it was found for the first time. Copy and paste it in your file.
Search for a picture of the mine where it was found and download it. Copy and paste it in your file.

12th November · Rosetta Mission · Landing on a comet
Rosetta probe will "land" in comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko on 12th November.
This short science-fiction film is inspired by the Rosetta Mission (with subtitles). Enjoy it!
A comet is not an
asteroid. Asteroids are made up of metal and rock material and comets are made
up of dust, ice and rock. The orbits of the comets are very long. Asteroids are
in closer orbits to the Sun.
Rosetta mission is the first mission designed to orbit
and land to a comet. It is a European Space Agency Mission. Composed of the
module, which has 11 scientific experiments, and a Lander, called Philae. It’s
got 10 additional experiments.

You can find more details about the Rosetta Mission on SEA official website: http://rosetta.esa.int/
A comet is a small Solar System body than travels
around the Sun in highly elliptical orbits. They are irregular in shape. The
nucleus is made up of a mass of ice, dust and gas. When comets travel close to
the Sun, the ice evaporates, creating their famous long bright tails.

Homework:
1.- Follow these steps and take a picture of the Moon between the 16th and 20th of October.
1a) Find the Moon in the sky if it is not too cloudy. You need to know first when to find it:
1b) Take the picture.
1c) Send it to the teacher - sciencegordon@gmail.com - with the name of the place you took the picture, the moon phase and the time you took the picture.
For example these photos were taken by Eduardo García Gómez the 20th october at 7:50 and at 8:10 from Pola de Gordón. Nice shots, Eduardo!! Moon shows Last Quarter phase, although it is difficult to obtain a clear ohoto without zoom.
2.- Visit this site and answer: what is the diference between the Moon phases seen from the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere?
3.- Ask Natalie or the English teacher what does "Once in a Bluemoon" means in Spanish.
4.- For fun, not homework:
http://www.tutiempo.net/luna/fases.htm Names in English and Spanish of moon phases. You can also find the moon phase on the day you were born.
¡! The sky every night. If you want to know what you can see from the Northen Hemisphere each night, visit the following sites:
For example, this month we can see 5 planets from Earth: http://earthsky.org/astronomy-essentials/visible-planets-tonight-mars-jupiter-venus-saturn-mercury
